Getting it right

Plaster is the foundation of every finish above it. If walls aren't flat and true, paint shows every ripple and tiles won't sit; if a gypsum ceiling isn't set out properly, the lighting and the lines give it away. Good plastering also controls cracking — the right beads, bonding and drying time. It's quiet, skilled work, which is why we use verified specialists and sign off the surfaces before the decorators or tilers follow.

What gypsum and plastering cost in Malta

Work is usually costed per m² of surface, or per linear metre for decorative profiles. As an indicative guide for Malta:

• Plaster / skim finish to walls and ceilings: from around €10–€18 per m².
• Gypsum false (suspended) ceilings — frame, board and finish: roughly €30–€55 per m².
• Partitions / dry-lining: roughly €35–€60 per m².
• Decorative coving, cornice and lighting coves: priced per linear metre by profile, from around €10 per m.
